I like very much the pattern created by the crazy paving of terraces especially in the sunshine. This one is a prolongation of a very small room at the end of a terrace and the small window allows the light to come through.

This painting was commissioned by a Mum who wanted to have a watercolour of the toyshop to keep as a souvenir of her happy time in Valbonne and for her children to have it on their bedroom wall.

Multicoloured chickens? Why not…

Some people are just resting sitting on the stone wall and enjoy the sunshine before resuming their shopping.

There is every year a fantastic pottery market in the gorgeous village of Bonnieux in the Lubéron region made famous by the author Peter Mayle in “a Year in Provence” .
This market takes place annually during Easter weekend, and my husband and I love to return to it as the potteries shown are amazing in quality and truly inspiring as works of art. This year, this lovely little lady caught my eye and she is cycling though not on an electric bike !

This is a very colourful fruit shop we have in the village and I noticed people always stop to have a chat even if the don’t buy anything. Just one of these meeting points for friends and an excuse to stop and get the latest gossips…

Thanks to Lin Wolf from the English Book Centre, I was “the artist in residence”at the shop this morning, in Valbonne village. As it was market day, and in spite of a chilly feel, lots of passers-by came to see me and gave me lovely comments on my paintings. One of them told me that the pictures reminded her of good times spent with her family in Valbonne.
For me the great satisfaction in painting is to be able to trigger a positive emotional response in people. I am so thankful when it happens!

I will be sketching in front of the English book centre in Valbonne village tomorrow morning, market day. I will be able to show my original watercolour sketches and have a chat while painting.

There is an exhibition of sculptures in the streets of Mougins at the moment with the theme “humans and beasts”. This rhinoceros is welcoming you next to the church! I thought the plane tree is as beautiful as a modern sculpture especially when the sun casts its striking shadow onto a wall.

The boulangerie in Valbonne is one of the favourite place for friends to meet and have a chat in the sun.
