Lovely building in Le Cannet done in my usual style in watercolour and ink. So many interesting subjects to paint in this village attached to Cannes.

Gouache dog
I was inspired by a video on You tube done by an artist called JelArts who showed how to paint with gouache (thank you for sharing). I simply tried her technique which seemed to be very impressionistic involving lots of spontaneous brush strokes. So here is my version of her “blue dog”.
Clever Fox
People use the phrase “wily like a fox” or “sly as a fox” for a reason. Foxes are very smart in ways that matter: finding food, surviving in weather extremes, outwitting predators, protecting their young. They’re smarter than most, but not all, dog breeds and on top of all…they are so beautiful!
So cute !
Watercolour and gouache portraits on a unified background. I like to use different subjects to paint and make them appear on a double page as a whole. I try to incorporate elements of design to give a sense of balance to the recto/verso spread of my watercolour sketchbook.
I love westies
This is a watercolour and mixed media painting done for a friend who lost her little white terrier dog recently. In fact the middle dog was inspired by one picture she took of her beloved dog which was posted on Facebook. The result will give her hopefully a bit of joy and memories of happier times.
A very thoughtful dog
I liked the clever attitude of this dog and I had to find a quote which would match that particular facial expression. I hope you agree with my choice and Salvador Dali’s statement!
Drawing done with brush pen and watercolour on Moleskine sketchbook.
Windsor bird’s eye view for the Royal Wedding
Tomorrow the world will be watching Harry and Meghan’s Royal wedding. The pigeons will definitively have the best point of view !
A man and his horse watercolour and pencil sketch
A watercolour and pencil drawing from my sketchbook. I found an interesting quote about horses on the internet from an unknown author which illustrated perfectly my little sketch : “The earth would be nothing without the people but the man would be nothing without the horse”
Pug
Inspired by animals, I saw this little chap and used watercolour and pen to paint it on this page. I decided to put a few comments which I found so true!
You and Me
This is a watercolour done with the Valentine theme in mind from last week.
The challenge was the rendering of the soft fur and the expression of affection. I am pleased with the result as these two look very cuddly and fluffy. I miss my two cats long gone and painting a cat is always an emotional act of remembrance. Dogs are lovely too but I am more “a cat person” !
