I wanted to draw with a brush pen and  with no preliminary sketch : with ink you have one go and no correction. I feel the challenge is quite liberating and I enjoy the spontaneity and flow in drawing that way. These little meerkats were very cute and they were from different photos (copy right free). I just made this conversation happen…

Crocodile on the French Riviera

crocodile

This particular type of crocodile thrives on the Riviera, you can see them lurking around beaches and pools. They come out after a long hibernation in cupboards somehow quite deflated and with a bit of help, they recover their full  weight to the greatest joy of children. They are very friendly and easy to tame…

Classic car the MG and its romantic story

MG

This MG has a particular personal story for me as I was driven in it to the Town Hall first then to the church in a hilly Provençal village on my wedding day  ! I did a painting of that particular church in my blog last year if you want to get the feeling of the place … At the time, the MG had a warm yellow ochre coat and later, after having been sold  to a member of the family, was transformed with this beautiful British Racing Green colour which makes it even more appealing. I took a picture of it in the sunshine and you can see the reflection of the sun in the changing green tones. I like the effect of watercolour in its shadow still imbued with light.  Doing that painting was a real travel in time for me and reminded me of a very happy event indeed…

A birthday card for someone special

1487861205068It is my sister’s birthday and I have decided to paint a special card for her : I picked up a watercolour bloc 23×30, 5 cm 300g/m2 and painted on half the page so I can fold it into 2, thus creating a standing card. I will do some calligraphy inside with the brush and will make it original and unique. I used lots of water to obtain that loose effect. I prefered fruit to flowers they are more juicy looking which makes perfect for the watery look.
