This cute baby was drawn with a simple graphite pencil and I tried to transform the drawing with a watercolour filter done through one of these fun apps for tablets.

This is a very popular café overlooking the old Valbonne village. It used to be a meeting venue for the international women s club. Now it is still a magnet for people to meet up, especially at lunch time for business people working in Sophia near by, the sillicon valley of the South of France.
I have just joined on Facebook an on line watercolour group which will promote the use of watercolour throughout the month of July. #WorldWatercolour. This group aims to inspire people to paint with watercolours while raising awareness for the importance of art and creativity in the world.
This painting was a commission to remember happy times spent with kids enjoying ice creams.I was thrilled to learn that it was going to Singapore. I too love homemade ice cream it is so good!
I decided to try to make some at home for fun.I managed to produce a delicious mint and chocolate ice cream which according to my husband was as good as the one from the shop! You don’ t need to have an ice cream maker to get good results :
choose a receipe that you like and all you need to do when the ice cream is about to solidify is to take it out of the freezer for a few minutes, use a fork and rake it to stop the cristallisation for a smooth result. Voilà!

….a whole group of 10 to 15 people from Cannes came to see me while sitting in front of the English Book Centre in Valbonne. They happened to be watercolour painters coming to the village to do some sketching too. They said I was a very good subject to paint so they took pictures of me ! A bit further along from the bookshop was another stall as it was market day, and the man there commented jokingly “hey..she is a star”. A bit of film festival flavour…

Last time I was at the English Book Centre in Valbonne, I saw Maggie, Lin’s wee dog coming out of the shop. She had just had a bath and she was looking very fluffy like a sheep. She had doubled in size. I painted her bigger than she actually is so that you can see she is the star of the show !

It is always at this time of the year when Cannes becomes the center of attention. All eyes and cameras are on the red carpet. I like the mass of photographers which form a kind of repetitive pattern of lenses .I decided to integrate them in my own version of a logo for the festival.

A friend of mine gave me this beautiful pot of roses to be planted in my garden.I did this sketch including the name of the rose written on the tag. I thought it would make an interesting visual addition to the painting. I can’t share the smell but it is lovely !

This is a French tradition to offer a bunch of lily of the valley to people you love on the 1st of May. I just send you all this little sketch to celebrate the 1st of Mai and enjoy the day wherever you are.

I will be sketching outside the English Book Centre in Valbonne tomorrow in the afternoon after 3pm.I had fun with sketchbookpro meshing two different pictures to make me appear in front of the shop on a sunny day. Let’s hope tomorrow’s weather will be as good as today’s. See you then!

This old couple comes from my collection of santons which are traditional art dolls from Provence. The man reads the Provençal newspaper. I particularly like these two because they look very contended, sitting on a bench in the sunshine, enjoying a simple life.
