I was running out of watercolour paper and I could not wait to get some as I was away from my usual supply shop. So the solution was to use a brown shopping bag and start drawing with my pastel pencils which I happened to have with me….I like the fact that the mid tone values were already there so it was a new way for me to draw ..Out of lack comes discovery…The reference picture was on my mobile phone so no excuse for not drawing!

This portrait is a mixture of techniques which were used organically with not too much planing. When the background was glued down I realised that this lady was a very noble person and the shape of the collaged ears of wheat reminded me of wings so the title came as an obvious choice…

I continue my new series of mixed media portraits and this one is done with collage, pastels and acrylic paint on watercolour paper.
I just love using collage to add texture to a painting.Collage gives you so much inspiration for colours . This was inspired by a copyright free photo of a gorgeous woman !

I enjoyed using my mixed media stash to create this portrait on strong paper. It is always with great pleasure to start with no particular plan and end up with a a triking result!
