Summer holidays

Rabbit

Sketched rabbit onto a prepared background and a bit of collage …The long Summer holidays have started for the French kids. Parents know only too well that inevitable expression “I am bored” but in fact boredom enhances creativity so it is not all that negative !

It is time for children to run around (preferably not at home) but in fields or parks or gardens instead of staying  in front of a computer or TV….

Swan

Swan

I did this sketch using on purpose the elegant writer pen which bleeds when you touch the line with water. I liked the result which gives a watery colour to the feathers.

I found a Thai proverb  matching very well my double spread. Very meaningful!

Miss Mimosa from the French Riviera

miss mimosa

Mimosa is dominating our landscape at this time of the year. Lots of public celebrations with the mimosa theme are taking place everywhere in this part of the world. I have decided that this painting would be dedicated to the glorious mimosa colour and its amazing blossom. You will notice that  even the costume is garnished with mimosa.

Narcissus from the garden.

narcisse

These narcissus starting to appear everywhere in the garden and are the sign of early spring. I love the challenge of painting white flowers as it is always recommended to leave as much white as possible from the paper. Painting the “colour” white with watercolours means  not painting at all….

Blue green Dragonfly

Blue Libellulewatermarked

Dragonflies start to grow in water and then move into the air and fly. I like very much the symbolism of this insect .It represents metamorphosis and transformation. It could symbolise changes needed in our life in order to reach our full potential.  On the more mundane level, I used watercolours and inks to achieve the shimmering aspect on the wings and body. The change here is about using mixed media and not just watercolour…the start of a new adventure.

Wedding at a fairytale castle

Mariage TJ

I had such fun painting this wedding portrait as the whole picture is like a fairytale.

I used 3 different pictures to obtain this landscape and put a lot of details in the middle ground to balance out the quiet foreground. I hope that this picture will be a great present to keep as a good memory of a fabulous day and most excitingly … I was there to witness the magic !
